John Gregory Reber, 51, of 236 Old Farm Rd., Roanoke Rapids died Saturday, September 4, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. John was born July 17, 1959 to the late John Arnett Reber and Vivian Cook Reber, who survives.

He lived in Florence, SC before coming to Roanoke Rapids. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School, after which he attended East Carolina University. He later joined the United States Air Force where he worked with computers. He also lived and worked in Myrtle Beach, SC, New Orleans, LA and Durham, NC as a salesman.

He is survived by his mother, Vivian Cook Reber; his sister, Laura R. Mason of Charlotte; his brother, Mark Reber of Garner; a special niece, Ashley Reber of Roanoke Rapids; nieces Alex and Catlin Mason, and one nephew Caleb Mason; and a special friend, Charles Hockaday.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids with the Rev. C.B. Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

Friends may visit at the home of Vivian Reber, 236 Old Farm Rd., Roanoke Rapids.
